Omnivore's new Text-to-speech Feature

With our new text-to-speech feature, Omnivore for iOS can read any article or web page aloud — so your eyes can get some well-earned rest.

Get your reading done on the move.

Read the news or get your daily briefing during your morning commute. Review assigned reading on your way to class. Or catch up on Hollywood gossip during your lunchtime run.

Research shows that you learn better when you engage multiple senses. With text-to-speech and our follow-along feature, you can listen and read at the same time.

How do I use Omnivore text-to-speech?

Text-to-speech is currently available in the Omnivore app for iOS only. Here’s how it works:

1. Save any article to Omnivore.

2. Launch the Omnivore app and tap a saved item in your Library to open the reader.

3. Tap the Listen button (the headphone icon at the top) to start playback in fullscreen mode.

4. You can follow along with the text while it is read aloud. Swipe left or right to skip backward or forward.

5. Tap the down-arrow or swipe down from the top to use mini-player mode.

6. Tap the (three dots) icon to access additional playback controls.

Downloading audio for Offline Playback

From the library view, long press on any item and choose Download Audio. This will download an offline version of the article that can be played back later.
